Chapter 2: Real Numbers
Section titled “Chapter 2: Real Numbers”The real number system is the foundation of all analysis. Zorich builds axiomatically: algebraic axioms, the order relation, the completeness axiom, and its consequences (nested interval theorem, Borel-Lebesgue lemma, Bolzano-Weierstrass principle). The chapter also covers cardinality — countable sets and the continuum.
